The First Two Days!

Hello everyone,
It has been very busy. All 16 volunteers arrived on Wednesday, and then yesterday we went with Habitat for Humanity to help paint some houses. Those locals that were there were very nice, and it was good to see them instead of us mainly working on those houses. One of our drivers, Fernando, is a funny man who played 80s love songs on the way there.

Today we went to Fudem, a nonprofit organization based in El Salvador that is an leader in eye health care. I as well as others am planning on teaching visual acuity tests on certain days, where we go out to rural communities to do a basic eye test in Spanish. We were trained on it today, and I realized what bad eyesight I have :) The organization has a lot of staff and covers the whole country.

The people here are talkative, friendly, and my team members and I get along very well. The food is excellent, and I have had beans, chicken, rice, mangos, platano (fried banana), and pupusas (a food El Salvador is famous for!)

I havent taken pictures because we are still adjusting to the bus system here and I dont want to get robbed, but I will soon.

Thank you very much, and I will talk to you later.
